How this GST calculator works
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is added to the price of most goods and services in India at rates of 5%, 12%, 18% or 28% depending on the category. This tool can work two ways: "Add GST" takes a base amount and shows the final price including tax, while "Remove GST" takes a final price and works backward to show the original base amount and the tax portion within it.
The GST amount shown is also split into CGST and SGST, each making up half of the total GST — this is how tax is typically divided between central and state governments for transactions within the same state.
