Understanding BMI
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple measure that uses your height and weight to estimate whether your weight falls within a healthy range. It's calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres (kg/m²).
BMI is a useful screening tool, but it doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, age or sex distribution of fat — so it's best used as a starting point rather than a diagnosis. If you have concerns about your weight or health, it's worth speaking with a healthcare professional who can look at the full picture.
